To the Rotarians of District 3140,

Our first emphasis of the year is family. Good families lead to good neighborhoods, and good neighborhoods build good communities. Good communities make great nations. For there to be a strong family, there must be a strong and safe home. Only then there be health and hope and harmony within its walls. And then, we start looking at safe housing, at water, and sanitation, at health care, at all issues affecting mothers and children.

Our second emphasis is to build on what we do well, on continuity.

Founder of Rotary

In the year 1905, in Chicago, a Lawyer called PAUL HARRIS found it lonely in that busy city and felt the need of forming and association of friends for fellowship and business promotion. He met other three like minded people in Silverster Schiele, a coal merchant, Hiram Shorey, a merchant tailor and Gustavus Loehr, a mining engineer and formed the 1st Rotary Club of Chicago on 23rd February, 1905.
